I'm taking tomorrow off to spend time with my little doodle bug! I love just hanging out with her! I need to get some house work done but she likes to hang out in the kitchen with me so that shouldn't be too much of a problem! She has already learned how to make fresh apple bread, chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies... I'm sure there were some non-sweets that we made together but for some reason those things aren't memorable to me! We have been talking about it and I'm pretty sure that she wants to go to culinary school and work as a pastry chef at the family bakery when she grows up... no matter where her forever home is she will always be a part of our family!
On another note, she has been spitting up a bit more these days but it is def. way worse and kind of slimy when she is in bed... what's up with that? I think it might be part of why she has been fussy at bed time but when we pick her up she is just as happy as can be and doesn't act like she feels bad. My sinuses have been acting crazy and I have major drainage when I lay down so maybe she is dealing with some of the same?
Shaun's dad is leaving on Saturday to go on a mission trip. He and other members of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church will be serving the Lord in Nicaragua! Pray for safety as they travel and that the Lord is softening the hearts of those who will hear the Good News!
Story Time – Part Two

I'm guessing reflux...this happened with our nephew...they elevated his crib mattress on an incline and it seriously helped (they might have done something else too). I don't know...I don't have kids, so maybe I'm not the one to take advice from! ;) Good luck girl! I want to meet your sweet girl next time we come home...I'd love to sit and chat with you about your journey.
ReplyDeleteShaun told me about chatting with you guys... sad I didn't get to see you all! Would love to share with you the frustrations that we have delt with, only to see God glorified in the end! Please let us know when you guys will be in next!
ReplyDeletePTL last night she didn't spit up, however she was wide awake until midnight!
Newborns are def. on their own schedule all the time. It gets way better in another month of so. Hang in there, girl. You guys are awesome! Do you have one of those wedges with sleep positioners to put in her crib? Most newborns spit up like crazy because the stuff in their full tummies take the path of least resistance - up the esophagus and out. It's messy. No one ever tells you how messy newborns are. I always tried to get good burps out of mine and keep them somewhat upright for about 20 minutes after feedings. That helps tremendously. And from day one I always start the bathtime/bedtime routine. Bathtime wears them out and they tend to sleep the longest stretch afterwards. So if you want her to sleep at 10 p.m. try feeding her, giving her a nice bath (which she may hate), then put her down all warm and swaddled. Bathtime will then begin to set off a timer in her head that says bedtime is coming soon. It has worked for all 3 of mine. And as you know they still have bathtime before bed. It's a family tradition around here :-) Just some ideas to hopefully help you guys get a little more rest. It's definitely a tough job but you guys are so equipped for a time like this! Luv to all!
